I went to Karnala Fort Trek on 25 October 2008. Karnala Fort trek was not planned trek. We all friends were sitting in area and it was Sunday. We all were getting bored so we were thinking that we should go some where for trekking. Suddenly one of our friend Santya told us that we can go to Karnala Fort Trek for trekking. Karnala fort is nearby Mumbai and it won't take much time to get back us to home. He told us that dhaba is also nearby we can take there lunch also.

Finally we 6 friends were ready for Karnala fort trek. We were having 3 bikes so that 6 people can easily go for Karnala fort trek. We left for Karnala Fort trek at 11 am from our hometown. Santya, Kawdya, Kandya, Kachhi Pintya, Anil and me were the 6 members present in trekking team. Its took around 2 hours for us to reach at the base of Karnala fort. It was already 1.00 pm in afternoon so we were hungry.

We have decided that we will first go to dhaba take lunch and then go for Karnala Fort trek. But when we went to the dhaba. He told us that now he is not having foods ready. It will take few hours to get food ready. You can now give the order and later come for the lunch. Other 3 trekking members have decided that they will relax at dhaba only they wont come for Karnala fort trek. Santya, Anil and I have decided that we will go for Karnala Fort Trek.

Santya was our guide in Karnala Fort trek. Santya went for Karnala Fort Trek few years back. So we were having no tension to hire new guide for Karnala fort trek.
Adjacent to the Mumbai-Goa highway is the Karnala Fort. Despite being very close to Mumbai and close to highway, there are very few tourist other than school trips. But there is so much to see in this area. Karnala Bird Sanctuary is a footpath to the Karnala Fort. At th bottom of the cone in the centre of the Karnala fort are dug water tanks and granaries, as well as the remains of a nearby building. Be careful while climbing this cone, it is difficult to climb either cone and the bees in the beehive hanging on the top are constantly buzzing on the head. So only those who are sure should dare to go there. Apart from this, another feature of Karnala is that the village of Shirdhon, the birthplace of the freedom fighter Vasudev Balwant Phadke, can also be visited from here.
