13 Reasons You Should Be Talking About Bagdogra

Image
13 Reasons You Should Be Talking About Bagdogra  Beyond its perceived purpose as the launch pad into Sikkim and other Northeast Indian territories, Bagdogra is a traveller's paradise that is waiting to be rediscovered. Bagdogra  All too often, we forget that a toddler lurks within us. In Bagdogra, you can unleash just that. Seated by the window in one of the three miniature coaches of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Toy Train, we are gleefully waving out to co-passengers in other compartments who come into sight whenever the train curves . As it weaves its way in and out of forests, we fight the poking branches of tropical trees that threaten to thwack us for being naughty, and giggle at our own silly bravado. When it intermittently snores in the form of a mellow whistle whilst chugging along sleepily, we, too, erupt in a chorus of imitated whistles. And as it hisses and screeches, meanders and dips, we clap and marvel at the scenic journey. Be it the ebullienc...

19 Facts About Kovalam Beach That Will Impress Your Friends

Image
19 Facts About Kovalam Beach That Will Impress Your Friends This coastal heaven in Kerala shot to international prominence in the 1970s as a hippie stopover on the way to Sri Lanka, and part of that alternative spirit lives on in Kovalam's surfing culture. With rocky outcrops that keep underwater sandbars stable, the tidal waves at Kovalam's three beaches are just mild enough to not lose energy, and have a mixture of beach and point breaks. India's first artificial reef was installed here almost 10 years ago to tackle erosion, and has further helped calm the waters. We hear that surfing's possible all ten year round, but the best time to paddle past the whitewater is between June and September. Having an existing relationship with the ocean certainly helps - many riding the swells are fishermen working within the area. Note that Indian beaches don't have uniform lifeguard programme to keep an eye on novice surfers, so we'd advice you to either go through a sur...

Dudhsagar Falls | Goa

Image
Dudhsagar Falls | Goa  To locals and regular visitors, Goa is the prettiest when it rains. While the beaches are bereft of the touristy shacks, the water is cleaner and the sands less crowded. The forested hinterland comes to life with numerous waterfalls cutting through the green. One of the most popular among them being the Dudhsagar Falls. Located 60 km from capital Panaji, on NH4A, the falls gets their name from their frothy, milky-white appearance. During the rainy season, the falls grow in size and the amount of water increases exponentially. As the water plummets 310 m, it crashes with an ear-splitting roar.  Dudhsagar Waterfalls
